Position Summary:

Lead the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team to establish AML compliance enterprise-wide and provide direction and guidance to division operations managers. Manage all aspects of risk and compliance for Kroger Personal Finance (KPF) to increase alignment with corporate direction and policies around processes, programs and reports. Monitor check cashing and gift card fraud levels and proactively adjust risk tolerance on a regular basis. Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Lead the AML team that oversees compliance with applicable regulations, and provide direction/guidance to division compliance officers; act as a liaison with FinCEN, the Internal Revenue Service, Western Union, the Federal Trade Commission and other third parties
  • Establish/oversee controls to ensure reporting tools are in place to comply with all regulatory requirements, and guarantee the timely distribution/communication of division compliance dashboards
  • Update all policies and training as required in collaboration with corporate teams and division compliance officers
  • Manage KPF Risk and AML teams, and provide direction/guidance on strategies, tactics and programs
  • Maintain a KPF risk framework that addresses all regulatory, operational, reputational and contractual risks
  • Produce quarterly KPF Risk Committee papers, which highlight key developments and risks being managed by KPF
  • Maintain licensing and required reporting for relevant KPF products and services
  • Assist in tracking/monitoring the resolution of all examination/audit deficiencies, exceptions and recommendations
  • Partner with the Kroger Corporate and Divisional Internal Audit team to follow up on any outstanding audit items
  • Manage overall fraud losses for check cashing/prepaid cards and drive product growth by partnering with internal teams (e.g., Money Services, Loss Prevention and Gift Card) and external groups (e.g. Certegy)
  • Conduct investigations in collaboration with the Loss Prevention team and the financial crimes investigator
  • Collaborate with Monitoring All Exceptions (MAX), the Kroger Customer Relations Center (KCRC) and Point of Sale (POS) teams to identify opportunities/implement solutions that reduce fraud and improve functionality
  • Anticipate, understand and prepare for regulatory environment changes to ensure minimal impact on the business
  • Ensure consistent updates and compliance with the business continuity strategy for KPF, including call tree testing, plan activation, reviewing results, etc.

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • Two years risk management experience in the financial service industry or experience working with financial services within a retail environment
  • Two years experience in anti-money laundering compliance or working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent leadership skills

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Five years in risk management for the financial service industry
  • Fraud or risk management qualifications (e.g. certified fraud examiner, certified forensic interviewer or enterprise risk manager)
