The Senior Paralegal supports the Labor and Employment team, which is part of the Legal Departments Litigation team. The Senior Paralegal works with the attorneys on the Labor and Employment team as well as clients across multiple geographies (primarily in North America) and functional areas, including Human Resources. The Senior Paralegal works under the direct supervision of an attorney.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:Serve as liaison between internal and outside counsel to ensure efficient and effective management of the Companys wide variety of Labor and Employment litigation.
:Assist in all aspects of handling litigation, including reviewing service of process; managing deadlines; maintaining electronic matter management information; assisting with investigations, assessments, and settlement authority requests; document hold management; collecting information, data, and documents; discovery responses; and electronic discovery obligations.
:Conduct factual investigations and gather documents to assist Labor and Employment counsel in responding to non:litigation labor and employment issues.
:Assist in maintaining database of all labor and employment law:related documents.
:Compile information for required submissions to federal and state departments of labor and other government agencies and perform related recordkeeping.
:Facilitate responses to inquiries and audit requests from government agencies and public and private subpoenas.
:Support employment counsel in drafting and monitoring employment agreements.
:Assess, investigate, and prepare written summaries related to employment:based demand letters.
:Support Labor and Employment team in fulfilling reporting obligations, including preparation of internal reports and reporting of matters to insurers.
:Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, legal decisions, and legal articles.
:Perform and/or assist with certain clerical duties such as summarizing documents and routing incoming
:At least 5:7 years of experience with a reputable, highly rated law firm, and/or in:house legal department.
:Experience supporting and assisting labor and employment counsel in a fast:paced environment.
:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
:Experience and comfort with leading investigations, interviews and meetings.
:Experience preparing concise and thorough written summaries and assessments of matters.
:Self:starter who is innovative, able to multi:task, and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
:Strong organization skills with high attention to detail, timeliness, and confidentiality.
:Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of constituents, including various internal clients at different levels within the organization, outside counsel in North America and abroad, colleagues within the global Legal Department, and a diverse variety of other contacts.
:Expert level strength in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Document Management Systems.
