The International Programs Office is looking for an Educational Advisor/ Study Abroad Advisor. This position will report to the Executive Director and will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all other activities. The Educational Advisor/ Study Abroad Advisor will join a team of seven full:time professionals dedicated to study abroad within UC International. UC International is the university:wide unit, within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, for serving international students and scholars, education abroad students, as well as the development of the universitys international strategic planning. The selected candidate will provide general study abroad marketing, promotion, and advising as well as assistance to logistical and administrative support to faculty:led study abroad. As a primary function, the Educational Advisor/ Study Abroad Advisor will be mentored and trained to manage a portfolio of faculty:led study abroad programs : which would include budget preparation, promotion, faculty support, evaluations, participant screening, selection, posting charges to student accounts, pre:departure preparation, coordination with overseas partners and associated administrative tasks.
UC International seeks to increase the diversity of UC students studying abroad and the destinations where students choose to study. UC International will look to the Educational Advisor for new ideas, suggestions and best practices about how to achieve these goals a UC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
:General study abroad marketing, promotion, and advising
:Promote study abroad on campus with various presentations to UC students (often times classroom and student club presentations will be held during early evening hours)
:Assist with the coordination and presentations for the required pre:departure orientation for UC students traveling abroad
:Work with students participating in and faculty planning faculty led study abroad programs
:Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
:Bachelors degree required, preferably with one (1) year of experience in education abroad or related field
:Knowledge of best practices in international higher education and/or study abroad
Preferred Qualifications
:Masters degree
:Experience living, studying or working abroad
:Strong organizational skills
:Some foreign language skills
:Ability to interact with faculty, students, administrators, and others in a highly professional manner
:Must be motivated, proactive, detail oriented and independent in the completion of job duties
