General Position Summary

This position functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Safety Administration, or his designee (Director of Safety and Facilities). The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Assistant Vice President of Safety Administration, or his designee, in all fleet and safety administration areas of the company. The incumbents major responsibility is to manage fleet including but not limited to the inventory and repairs of all company owned pack vans, straight trucks, tractors, and trailers within the Planes Companies Fleet. Incumbent will also be responsible for understanding and administering all relevant paperwork requirements.

Essential functions / Major Responsibilities

Assist in decisions regarding fleet maintenance : both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs. Issue and track Purchase Orders to ensure proper accounting of expense.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with all vendor lines in regards to vehicle maintenance and repairs, including tires, mechanical repairs, body work, emergency road services, parts, and any other related vehicle service items.
Assist in 24 hour phone coverage for fleet equipment breakdown to assure that Van Operators are not stranded along the side of the road after business hours.
Assist Local Operations with daily tasks if needed during peak season and participate in the weekend rotation with Local Operations and the Safety Department.
Maintain inventory control records of all in:van equipment for company units.
Perform daily lot check at Cincinnati agent 40 location.
Review lot checks from branch locations daily. Verify with the Operations managers of each location that all Planes/Tri:County equipment is accounted for 100.
Maintain reporting of vehicle accidents to Willis Towers Watson Insurance and UVL/MTI. Submit monthly report to immediate supervisor the status of each claim.
Responsible for tracking Van Operator compliance of all DOT Vehicle Inspections.
Manage the company garage organization, workflow and revenue production and prepare monthly reports as needed to immediate supervisor.
Perform all title transactions and plate transactions with the Planes fleet.
Oversee accident and inspection photos on server.
Maintain an UVL Drivers Qualification with United Van Lines.
Maintain a report of the installing and charging of the SkyBitz units that go on our leased or owned trailers.
Maintain a fluent knowledge of Collective Data and all of its various abilities and assist in the training of all company mechanics.
Assist in the organization of company garage and its compliance with OHSA regulations.
Update all UVL/MTI Safety Forms on Planes server.
Provide telephone coverage and job back up support for other members in the Safety Department.
Promptly communicate any potential problems, incidences or occurrences effecting the daily operations and management of the department to your immediate supervisor.
Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with management, co:workers, team members, van operators, and customers with the Companys best interests as a top priority.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures in both the Employee Handbook and the Operations Department Procedure Manual.
Demonstrate a willingness to improve job related skills; be responsive to direction and criticism showing flexibility and creativity in completing work assignments.
Maintain a Unigroup University student I.D. number. Be willing to take classes as directed by Company management.
Fully support and have a good working knowledge of the five elements of the PQM process; measurability, evaluation, accountability, corrective action/training, and timely rewards.
Keep the Director of Safety and Facilities informed of all potential problems effecting the daily operations and man
