Under the direction of the Director of International Admissions, the International Student Recruitment and Support Specialist will instruct as to assimilation of Chinese undergraduate students into the U.S. postsecondary educational environment and coordinate related activities, from the initial stage of recruitment to the time of graduation. More specifically, the International Student Recruitment and Support Specialist will work within the university hierarchy, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni, to develop and coordinate a comprehensive recruitment strategy for Chinese students, which will encompass retention strategies for international students and strategic enrollment growth.

Primary Duties:

:Coordinate university efforts to assist the academic and cultural acclimation of Chinese undergraduate students, which will require specific efforts to assist Chinese students as well as instructing academic and student support offices as to these issues.

:Oversee the universitys admissions office located in China, which includes an on:site manager, recruiters, and office staff. This will require regular communication with the China office. These responsibilities will include visiting the office, training staff, reviewing the offices enrollment management plans, as well as closely monitoring the office budget. These budget:related duties include working with the Director of International Admissions to determine the China Office annual budget, making recommendations regarding salaries and bonuses of the staff, establishing travel expense policies, authorizing recruitment:related expenses, and having the authority to hire/fire staff in the office.

:Work with UC students, faculty and staff to help encourage internationalization efforts, such as instructing American students interested in engaging with international students and helping increase campus knowledge and appreciation of Chinese language and culture.

Other duties include:

:Teach undergraduate courses related to cross:cultural learning and communication

:Fluency in written and spoken English, as demonstrated by being a native speaker, through achievement of an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited U.S. university, or submission of a TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS overall band score of 7.5
:Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin, as demonstrated by being a native speaker, through achievement of an undergraduate or graduate degree from a Chinese university, or submission of an advanced score on the Hanu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Chinese proficiency test
:Masters degree in TESL, Education, or related field
:Ability to work evenings and weekends and participate in frequent international travel
