At Assurex The Reimbursement Specialist 1 coordinates and performs all aspects of billing and collections from Commercial, Government, Private payers in the healthcare industry for AssureRx Health in accordance with training materials, written processes, scripts and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Reimbursement Specialist 1 works in a high performance, team environment and is responsible for a number of billing and collections:oriented tasks.Understand payer requirements for submission of patient claims including appealsPopulate and maintain SOPs, including payer specific data for the management of claims and communicate same to Customer Service.Monitor status of claims in collections systemInvestigate error notifications and hand:off as appropriateRespond to denials, re:submit and/or appeal as appropriateMonitor and report standardized metrics on claims status/progress in a timely mannerEstablish contact points/relationships with payers to optimize claims/appeals processEnsure completeness and accuracy of contract database for in:network payersMonitor cash receipts against contracts database, follow up discrepancies as appropriateWhen claim/appeals process exhausted (according to policy) hand:off to Customer Service to initiate collections from patientsHigh School Diploma requiredKnowledge of medical billing and collection practices1:3 years of experience working in a Reimbursement Specialist positionsProficient in all Microsoft Office software applications including strong knowledge in Microsoft ExcelKnowledge of basic medical coding and third:party operating procedures and practicesSkill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful mannerAbility to read, understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with payersMust be well organized and detail:orientedGood financial acumenStrong team skillsExcellent time management, scheduling, and organizational skillsMust be analytical, flexible, innovation, and self:motivatedMust have the flexibility to work extra hours to meet corporate and departmental goals At Assurex the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
