The UC College of Nursing: is seeking time limited, part:time nurse intervener position supporting the "Caregiver Self:Management Needs through Skill:Building" project (UC IRB Study The primary purpose of this project is to make improvements to a program that addresses the needs and concerns of family caregivers of stroke survivors. The Telephone Assessment and Skill:Building Kit (TASK II) for stroke family caregivers is being revised to a TASK III version that uses various modes of technology (TASK III website, eBook), and that provides a stronger emphasis on caregiver health.
Position: In Phase I of the project, focus groups and individual interviews will be conducted with 40 experts (interdisciplinary researchers, technology experts, clinicians and clinical leaders, and family caregivers of stroke survivors) to make refinements to the TASK III program. In Phase II, 74 stroke caregivers will be randomized to the TASK III group or to an Information, Support, and Referral (ISR) comparison group (37/group). Both groups will receive 8 weekly calls from a nurse, with a booster call a month later. Data collection calls will be made by a blinded data collector at baseline (within 8 weeks after discharge home), 8 weeks (end of intervention), and 12 weeks (after booster session). Findings will be used for a larger grant. Long:term, our hopes are to provide the evidence needed to implement the TASK III program into ongoing stroke systems of care.
Job Summary: The College of Nursing is searching for nurse interveners who will be responsible for delivering calls to stroke family caregivers randomized to the TASK III and ISR groups using structured protocols. Nurses will attend training sessions, weekly research team meetings, and performance evaluation sessions. Management of audio:recorded sessions, transcription, data entry, and documentation will be necessary. Additional duties may include recruitment and screening of potential study participants, obtaining informed consent, assisting the Principal Investigator and the Project Manager with day to day operations of the grant, and other study related duties. This is a part:time, hourly paid position.
Duties:
:Deliver TASK III and/or ISR interventions according to protocol, including management of audio:recorded sessions, transcription, data entry, and documentation;
:Participate in weekly scheduled research team meetings, as well as training and performance evaluation sessions and focus groups as requested;
:Provide recruitment and screening of potential study participants, including obtaining informed consent for those who are eligible;
:Assist the Principal Investigator and the Project Manager with day to day administrative responsibilities including: management of project documents, scheduling of rooms, filing, some data management, reporting, and coordination of schedules;
:Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Minimum Qualifications: Active Registered Nurses license with an Associates degree or higher in nursing. Basic computer skills including the ability to type and enter data. Ability to communicate in person and by telephone, videoconferencing, email, and text.Basic audio:recording and online calendar skills. Dependable and efficient with time management skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills. Experience interacting with patients and/or family caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications: PC literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and REDCap database management.
Proficient in navigating websites and the use of eBooks on various devices (e.g., iPhone, Android, iPAD, Amazon Fire or Nook, Mac or PC). Research related experiences (e.g., served as a study nurse, data collector, research assistant, and/or received training on the protection of human subjects and IRB approved procedures).
