PRIMARY DUTYThe primary purpose of the Unit Manager (RN) position is to participate in and oversee the provision of resident care services consistent with accepted standards of care and as prescribed by the attending physician. This position also provides direct resident care, supervises nursing staff and assigns duties to other nurses and/or nursing assistants as appropriate.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Assures resident care is delivered in accordance with accepted standards of practiceMakes rounds to inspect facilities and evaluate resident needsAssists in collection and documentation of data relevant to resident assessment and evaluationMaintains appropriate quality assurance logs for any equipment necessary for the delivery of quality nursing careIdentifies and secures equipment and supplies Implements and evaluates a resident's care plan, making recommendations as needed to the Director of Nursing Provides direct and individualized nursing care to residents as necessaryOrders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess resident's conditionModifies resident treatment plans as indicated by residents' responses and conditionsMonitors all aspects of resident care, documents care provided and resident responsePrepares residents for, and assist with, examinations and treatmentsAdministers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and facility policiesMaintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of residentConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident care plansProvides and documents education to residents and participates in discharge teaching as indicated by facility policy Maintains accurate, detailed reports and recordsRecord residents' medical information and vital signsDocuments nursing history and physical assessment for assigned residentsEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Graduate from an accredited nursing program; minimum of 3 years of previous long-term care experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Must be licensed in the applicable state as a Registered Nurse (RN)SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS of this position are generally as follows: Oversees the activities of nursing employees under the direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems; may provide recommendations of particular weight in hiring, appraising performance, discipline and termination decisionsPRIMARY DUTYThe primary purpose of the Unit Manager (RN) position is to participate in and oversee the provision of resident care services consistent with accepted standards of care and as prescribed by the attending physician.
