ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION

The University of Cincinnati (UC), College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) seeks to recruit for the Jacob Lichter Professorship, a tenure:track chair professorship position at the Associate or Full Professor level, with expertise in the behavior of structures and structural materials, especially in regard to the effective use of presently available and new materials, and improved methods of construction relative to expansion and contraction and in respect to the durability of structural components. CAECM offers undergraduate degrees in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Construction Management, as well as Master and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering.
The Jacob Lichter Professorship in Engineering Construction was established in 1968 in recognition of the outstanding achievements in the field of building construction by the late Jacob Lichter, Fellow and Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The expected start date for the position is August 15, 2017. Rank, salary, and start:up funding will be negotiated and will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and support a nationally recognized research program in the behavior of structures and structural materials, as well as develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, along the lines of the Lichter Professorship intent, and to collaborate and integrate efforts with the existing faculty at CAECM, CEAS, and UC. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in service related activities.
Minimum qualifications: An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. A record of sustained research funding in areas related to the Lichter Professorship intent. Experience in developing and a record of excellence in teaching courses related to the Lichter Professorship intent, particularly in the behavior of structures and structural materials. Active participation in professional societies related to structures and structural materials.
