Circus Mojo, the recently rebranded Ludlow Theatre’s in-house troupe, will host the first annual Coulrophobia “Fear of Clowns” Ball on October 27, 2012, at 8:00 pm Guests are welcomed to participate in a scary clown costume contest for the chance to win prizes.

Circus Mojo has helped the physically disabled who are wheelchair bound and those who suffer from mental disorders including Intermittent Explosive Disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and Reactive Explosive Disorder. Clients that have benefitted from Circus arts programs include Catholic Residential Services, Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky, and Children’s Hospital North College Hill Psyche Unit.

In a letter of support, “Clinical treatment today increasingly requires the use of evidence-based models, practices, and techniques. Further, it expects practitioners to incorporate methods which are grounded in research and proven to generate positive outcomes. Having witnessed the benefits circus provides to the population we serve, research is clearly needed to show how circus can improve the life of an at-risk youth. Funding for research.....will greatly increase the likelihood that other programs would begin to use circus as a treatment modality, and increase the chances that more at-risk youth will find positive leisure outlets and develop essential life skills.”

The Ball will raise awareness of the benefits of circus in health and wellness facilities and funds will go to the empirically study the impact of circus arts on the physically and mentally disabled.

Evening Includes:
Circus Performance, Scariest Clown Costume Contest $200 for winner, $100 Second Place, $50 Third Place
