Original hard rock band seeks rhythm guitarist w/ backing vocal abilities

posted: November 24, 2009, 07:04 AM

Replycincimusician@gmail.com

3-piece original band seeks a rhythm guitarist with BG vocal abilities (vocals a must), or, potentially, a bassist with BG vocal abilities (allowing the current bassist to switch to rhythm guitar). Influences include Alice in Chains, Corrosion of Conformity, Monster Magnet, Sound Garden, etc., but with slightly faster tempos, and a taste of pop and straight ahead modern hard rock.

12+ songs are currently being finalized. While some of the songs could be augmented by additional/new guitar parts, a large portion of the role initially would be playing existing parts. As new songs are written, the rhythm guitarist would then be responsible for writing their own parts during the songwriting process. Vocally, applicants should be capable of accurate and aurally pleasing harmonies, and, potentially duet/co-lead parts.

The line-up currently includes Lead Vocalist/Guitarist, Bassist and Drummer. All three members are very experienced and capable players, and expect the same of any applicant. The goal is to complete the songwriting process and begin recording a full-length limited release CD in the next few weeks, with expected completion in early Spring of ’10. Depending on practice schedule and band development, the debut performance may precede or coincide with the CD release.

This is an additional project for the members, but we hesitate to call it a “side-project”. The band will perform regularly both locally and regionally. However, because of other project commitments, a heavy practice schedule is not possible. As a result, band members will need to do their ‘homework’ with the scratch demos recorded during previous practices and as part of the songwriting process, and come to practice prepared and ready to play. Practice schedule is ideally once a week, but may vary depending on members’ availability. Local performances are expected to be every 4-6 weeks, while regional performances will be booked as often as available.

Best fit would be in the mid-twenties to mid-thirties. However, a good fit is a good fit regardless of age (no one under 21 please). Male and female applicants are both welcome.

If all of this sounds good, please contact us. Rough demos and scratch tracks are available upon request to individuals showing true interest in the project.

For immediate release,

Positive Image Productions
&
The Blue Wisp

Present:

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam
At The Blue Wisp
12-26-2009
5pm-10pm

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam is a collaborative effort of Positive Image Productions & The Blue Wisp Jazz Club to bring people together in unity to seek and celebrate peace; because without unity there is no way peace can be achieved.

Positive Image Productions, a subsidiary of Positive Image Arts Organization, hopes to contribute to building a peaceful and respectful world in which to live. We hope to be able to accomplish this, and many more positive achievements, through music, arts, entertainment and collaboration with other organizations.

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam will take place on the 26th of December, 2009, at the legendary jazz club, The Blue Wisp. The door of the event will be open to the public at 4pm, and the first performance will kick off at 5pm. There are 5 bands in the line up. Each band will get 15 minutes of set up time and 45 minutes of performance time. The bands in the line up are:

Souse
In the Spring of 2004, SOUSE was formed out of the ashes of the late progressive fusion band Final Exit. Three times nominated for “Best Jam Band” and "Best R&B/Funk Band" at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, SOUSE is a merger of key members of many notable regional funk-fusion and jam acts. Blending infectious melodies with layered rhythms and open improvisational passages, SOUSE continues to forge a unique sound and take their format in new directions. Drawing on keen musicianship and innate compositional skills, SOUSE has compiled an extensive library of original compositions while taking time to pay homage to their jazz and fusion influences. SOUSE is best experienced live and is currently busy promoting the release of their first full length CD, PUSH, at clubs and festivals throughout the Midwest.

Wade Baker
If one were attempting to design a prototype for the quintessential contemporary musician, trumpeter/fluegelhornist/bassist/composer Wade Baker would be an ideal model. A certified member of the hip-hop
generation, Wade's early aspirations in the world of hip-hop & rock music took precedence over the trumpet that he began playing in the sixth grade. When he reached twenty, his dedication to the art of jazz took shape. Rather than abandoning the music he loved, he simply applied its energy, spirit and fiercely proud intellectual rage to the jazz idiom, creating a synthesis that is truly contemporary. Baker has developed his sound from a wide variety of musical influences. He weaves together elements of R&B, Soul, Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll and Hip-Hop into a progressive jazz style that pays tribute to its tradition

Chick Pimp
The ambition to experiment with different sounds is what brought the members of Chick Pimp, Coke Dealer at a Bar together. Jazz, folk, pop, and bluegrass influences lay the groundwork for what the UC News Record has dubbed "an improvisational frenzy". Following the release of their polkatronic debut record 'Bofa Deez' in July 2008, the band was awarded a CEA for "Best Experimental Artist" by CityBeat in 2008. 'Bofa Deez' was recognized as one of CityBeat's "Best Albums of 2008".

Chuck Land Band
Chuck Land Jr. grew up playing drums, guitar & piano at an early age. Eventually he developed a great love for the Hammond Organ. Chuck
incorporates many genres into his style and uses a variety of vintage
sounding instruments in his music.
Some of his influences consist of Billy Preston, The Meters, Robert Randolph, The Jazz Crusaders, Steve Winwood and many others. You never know who your going to see backing Chuck up. One thing you will see is a show full of energy & soul. For more info go to www.myspace.com/chucklandband

The Image Afro-beat Band
Afro-beat, a musical combination of western big band jazz with African instruments and languages, is a musical expression of peace, love, unity, truth and justice. The Image Afro-beat Band is comprised of talented musicians that come from different musical & cultural backgrounds to play the unique style of music known as Afro-beat. Using the power of music, the band hopes to create appreciation for cultural diversity, respect for life and to contribute to making the world a more peaceful and respectful place in which to live. United, we can do it.

The event is set to take place at:
The Blue Wisp
318 E. 8th Street
Between Broadway & Sycamore
in Downtown Cincinnati, OH.

The door will open for the public at 4pm, the event will start at 5pm and go till 10pm. The ticket to the event will be sold for $12 in advance and $15 at the door. People can call 513-266-2070 or email baoku@baokutcr.com for tickets. Additional information about the event can be found at:

Mostly 70s/80s Hard Rock Cover Band

We are a bassist, vocalist and drummer (all of whom are experienced and have played in bands you very well may have heard of) auditioning lead guitarists for a mostly 70s and 80s blues based hard rock cover band. We have a rehearsal space and PA and a fairly extensive repertoire of songs which we have trimmed down to 48. We range in age from 31 to 44 and are ideally looking for others in or near the same range. Since two of the guys live near the space and the other does not we are also hopefully looking for someone who doesn't mind sharing the transportation/gas to get to rehearsals. Obviously, geography withstanding and this certainly isn't a dealbreaker but it would make rehearsals a lot more convenient.

As far as the tunes go, it's high energy raunchy rock n' roll with the charisma and attitude to match. Some of the bands we are covering include:

AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Buckcherry, Guns N' Roses, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Motley Crue, Ted Nugent, Van Halen & ZZ Top among others.

In other words...NO BULLSHIT! Just good blues guitar based ass kickin' REAL rock and roll! So, if anybody wants to rock hard, have some fun and hopefully get paid a little for doing it get in touch and leave a name and phone number so we can set up an audition a.s.a.p. Thanks for reading.

38 and looking for a new band. I just ended a 4 year stint with the band Equalibrium. I am looking to do covers (maybe a FEW originals). I have pro gear and transportation. I learn fast and can move with things. I am looking for something ready to go (or almost there - please I am not looking to start from scratch) - preferably rock/pop/classic/country. Influences range from STP to Duran, Puddle of Mudd to Saliva, Pink Floyd to Big and Rich and everything in between(sorry I don't/ you don't want me to sing). I'm in the Forest Park area.

For the most part, I play well with others but can't stand drama and spinning wheels. I want to work with and be part of a band not a group of egos. I don't want to take over the world (did it and have the t-shirt) but I want to have fun playing.

Interested I can go into more detail.

Thanks for reading.

Lead guitarist for Classic Rock band needed

We are in need of a lead guitarist with good equipment to join our band. This is not a new start up project but a well seasoned group of commited professionals.
We have keys, drums, rhythm guitar and bassist as well as a lead vocalist. We are rehearsing once a week on the eastside of Cincy.
Classic and southern rock by the best bands in history and they still rock the house today! Music from the 60's, 70's and some 80's. If you love classic rock and can make a guitar solo all yours, you'd know most, if not all of our music!

Thanks

If you have had a member up and quit or is going out of town and need a bassist, drummer, singer or guitar player for this coming weekend then look no further.
I am an experienced musician who has been playing for a living for 10 years and have had full time positions in all these areas. All pro gear and lead and harmony capabilities.
I play all styles and genres.
I currently lead sing for a band but have Oct. 23 & 24 open as well as Nov. 14.
I can learn any material needed and fast! I once learned 40 songs in 2 days and played a show and it went great resulting in me being the new member.
I'm not a hothead and bring no attitude, ego, drug or alcohol problems. I am nothing more than a working musician who loves and takes pride in his work.
Distance of the show is no problem as long as it pays decent.
If you need someone fast call Scott @ 513-693-1831.
