I have 20+ years experience playing a variety of styles. Pro gear. I would prefer an established working band, but would definitely consider a new project with experienced players. A contemporary jazz group would be ideal, but a blues/R&B or R&B/soul band would be good, too. I'm not at all interested in blues/rock.

For immediate release,

Positive Image Productions
&
The Blue Wisp

Present:

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam
At The Blue Wisp
12-26-2009
5pm-10pm

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam is a collaborative effort of Positive Image Productions & The Blue Wisp Jazz Club to bring people together in unity to seek and celebrate peace; because without unity there is no way peace can be achieved.

Positive Image Productions, a subsidiary of Positive Image Arts Organization, hopes to contribute to building a peaceful and respectful world in which to live. We hope to be able to accomplish this, and many more positive achievements, through music, arts, entertainment and collaboration with other organizations.

Cincy Unity Holiday Jam will take place on the 26th of December, 2009, at the legendary jazz club, The Blue Wisp. The door of the event will be open to the public at 4pm, and the first performance will kick off at 5pm. There are 5 bands in the line up. Each band will get 15 minutes of set up time and 45 minutes of performance time. The bands in the line up are:

Souse
In the Spring of 2004, SOUSE was formed out of the ashes of the late progressive fusion band Final Exit. Three times nominated for “Best Jam Band” and "Best R&B/Funk Band" at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, SOUSE is a merger of key members of many notable regional funk-fusion and jam acts. Blending infectious melodies with layered rhythms and open improvisational passages, SOUSE continues to forge a unique sound and take their format in new directions. Drawing on keen musicianship and innate compositional skills, SOUSE has compiled an extensive library of original compositions while taking time to pay homage to their jazz and fusion influences. SOUSE is best experienced live and is currently busy promoting the release of their first full length CD, PUSH, at clubs and festivals throughout the Midwest.

Wade Baker
If one were attempting to design a prototype for the quintessential contemporary musician, trumpeter/fluegelhornist/bassist/composer Wade Baker would be an ideal model. A certified member of the hip-hop
generation, Wade's early aspirations in the world of hip-hop & rock music took precedence over the trumpet that he began playing in the sixth grade. When he reached twenty, his dedication to the art of jazz took shape. Rather than abandoning the music he loved, he simply applied its energy, spirit and fiercely proud intellectual rage to the jazz idiom, creating a synthesis that is truly contemporary. Baker has developed his sound from a wide variety of musical influences. He weaves together elements of R&B, Soul, Blues, Jazz, Rock & Roll and Hip-Hop into a progressive jazz style that pays tribute to its tradition

Chick Pimp
The ambition to experiment with different sounds is what brought the members of Chick Pimp, Coke Dealer at a Bar together. Jazz, folk, pop, and bluegrass influences lay the groundwork for what the UC News Record has dubbed "an improvisational frenzy". Following the release of their polkatronic debut record 'Bofa Deez' in July 2008, the band was awarded a CEA for "Best Experimental Artist" by CityBeat in 2008. 'Bofa Deez' was recognized as one of CityBeat's "Best Albums of 2008".

Chuck Land Band
Chuck Land Jr. grew up playing drums, guitar & piano at an early age. Eventually he developed a great love for the Hammond Organ. Chuck
incorporates many genres into his style and uses a variety of vintage
sounding instruments in his music.
Some of his influences consist of Billy Preston, The Meters, Robert Randolph, The Jazz Crusaders, Steve Winwood and many others. You never know who your going to see backing Chuck up. One thing you will see is a show full of energy & soul. For more info go to www.myspace.com/chucklandband

The Image Afro-beat Band
Afro-beat, a musical combination of western big band jazz with African instruments and languages, is a musical expression of peace, love, unity, truth and justice. The Image Afro-beat Band is comprised of talented musicians that come from different musical & cultural backgrounds to play the unique style of music known as Afro-beat. Using the power of music, the band hopes to create appreciation for cultural diversity, respect for life and to contribute to making the world a more peaceful and respectful place in which to live. United, we can do it.

The event is set to take place at:
The Blue Wisp
318 E. 8th Street
Between Broadway & Sycamore
in Downtown Cincinnati, OH.

The door will open for the public at 4pm, the event will start at 5pm and go till 10pm. The ticket to the event will be sold for $12 in advance and $15 at the door. People can call 513-266-2070 or email baoku@baokutcr.com for tickets. Additional information about the event can be found at:

Mostly 70s/80s Hard Rock Cover Band

posted: November 3, 2009, 10:58 PM

We are a bassist, vocalist and drummer (all of whom are experienced and have played in bands you very well may have heard of) auditioning lead guitarists for a mostly 70s and 80s blues based hard rock cover band. We have a rehearsal space and PA and a fairly extensive repertoire of songs which we have trimmed down to 48. We range in age from 31 to 44 and are ideally looking for others in or near the same range. Since two of the guys live near the space and the other does not we are also hopefully looking for someone who doesn't mind sharing the transportation/gas to get to rehearsals. Obviously, geography withstanding and this certainly isn't a dealbreaker but it would make rehearsals a lot more convenient.

As far as the tunes go, it's high energy raunchy rock n' roll with the charisma and attitude to match. Some of the bands we are covering include:

AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Buckcherry, Guns N' Roses, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Motley Crue, Ted Nugent, Van Halen & ZZ Top among others.

In other words...NO BULLSHIT! Just good blues guitar based ass kickin' REAL rock and roll! So, if anybody wants to rock hard, have some fun and hopefully get paid a little for doing it get in touch and leave a name and phone number so we can set up an audition a.s.a.p. Thanks for reading.

Seeking: Male & Female/Gospel & Rock Singers (Recording Only)

posted: October 28, 2009, 06:32 PM

Hello Fellow Vocalists,

Blues Evolution is recording a second CD, and one of the tunes is a secular but gospel sounding song that is begging for the sound of a large choir. Well, we can’t pull that off, but we can try to simulate a choir by overdubbing a variety of voices singing each part. We would love your involvement.

Our most immediate need is for HIGH SOPRANO. THE HIGHEST NOTE IS HIGH G (an octave plus a 5th above middle C that sits on the space on Top of the treble clef. It is the last note possible that is still connected to the staff before you need ledger lines.) We need someone who can hit most of the notes clustered around High E with confidence, tone and of course accuracy. Finally we want it to have some soul and sound like church.

Although we have lately been focusing on locating a soprano voice, we really need voices in all ranges and with various styles. However, YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO a PROTOOLS compatible computerized home recording software system to participate on this recording.

PLEASE GIVE A LISTEN to our Mp3 DEMO of In The Name of the Father by clicking on the link to that song at our web page at the Indaba Music site:

http://www.indabamusic.com/people/579044191

I hope you will take a stab at it and join us. Unfortunately (considering the number of voices needed) THIS IS NOT A PAYING OPPORTUNITY.

I so look forward to hearing from you and all the best with your musical adventure.

Yes!

I would love to put something together for playing out a couple times a month.

I'm open to rock/folk/blues/alt from current back to the 60's.

I do have a good PA for this kind of band, mains and monitors, and i just need a person or two.

I can play lead or rhythm, and can do lead, although I'd like someone who could handle at least half.

In the Mason/West Chester area.

If you're interested, drop me a line, and we can meet up and see what we've got.

thanks!
